Virginie Ledoyen is a French actress who has appeared in films in her country and the United States. She was born November 15th, 1976 in Aubervilliers, France. Her father Bernard was a salesman and her mother Olga managed a restaurant. Because her parents are Spanish, Virginie Ledoyenhas a unique appearance and her eyes probably come from her Spanish decent. Ledoyen's parents divorced while she was young and her mother later remarried. Virginie also has a brother named Michel.

Ledoyen's career began when she started modeling at two years old. When she was nine, Ledoyenwas cast in an Italian film. Serious about her future career, Ledoyen enrolled in a school for performing arts. It wasn't until Virginie was 15 that she really decided to become an actress and, in 1994, she got a role in the movie Cold Water. The film led to her breakthrough into the industry and she was cast in many roles afterwards. Woody Allen was responsible for Ledoyen's break into English language films.

In 2000, she starred alongside Leonardo Di Caprio in the film "The Beach".
