Tatum O'Neal was born on November 5, 1963 to actors Ryan O'Neal and Joanna Cook Moore. She grew up in Hollywood and she was involved in film and television from an early age. She's the youngest person ever to win an Academy Award for her performance in the 1973 film "Paper Moon". It was a fantastic turn but it wasn't until three years later that she would appear on screen again. This time it was in "The Bad News Bears". The film about a misfit group of baseball players was a big hit and Tatum was again the star.

Her acting career never again reached the great heights she had achieved as a child. She did a nude scene with a much older Richard Burton in the 1980 film "Circle of Two" and she showed up naked again in "Little Darlings" from the same year. When Tatum married John McEnroe she largely took a break from acting, not appearing in a film for seven years. Her marriage was tumultuous and often played out in public as the press hungered for any information on the couple. They were divorced in 1994 after being separated for two years. Tatum developed an addiction to heroin and battled with it for many years, still having relapses as recently as 2008 when she was arrested for buying crack cocaine.
