Sandra Bullock is an actress who gained her fame during the 1990s. She was born July 26th, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia. Her mother, Helga D. Meyer, was a German opera singer and her father was an executive as well as a voice coach. Bullock spent a large part of her childhood in Germany and other European countries where she often accompanied her mother on opera tours.
Bullock finished high school in the United States and went to East Carolina University in North Carolina. However, she quit school in her senior year so she could pursue acting (she later finished her studies). After moving to New York City, Bullock worked a variety of jobs including waitressing and checking coats. Bullock took acting classes and got roles in several small independent films. Her first notable role was in "Demolition Man" in 1993. The year after, Bullock got her breakthrough role in the movie "Speed". The movie was a hit and led to roles in several other big budget films like "While You Were Sleeping" and "Miss Congeniality".
After appearing in many films, Sandra Bullock was listed as one of the richest female celebrities in 2007 with a total fortune of $85 million. She also appeared in several lists of the most beautiful people women in the world, including the "People" magazine's yearly list. In addition to acting, Bullock has her own company called "Fortis Films" which is a family business. She also owns a restaurant, bakery and a floral shop, all in Texas.
Sandra Bullock married Jesse James, host of Monster Garage, in 2005. James survived a murder attempt when a woman obsessed with Bullock tried to run him over with her car. The next year, in 2008, the couple survived a head-on collision with a drunken driver. Bullock and James also received media attention when they fought for and won custody of James's son from his previous marriage to porn star Janine Lindemulder.
