Actress Piper Perabo was born October 31st, 1976 in Tom Rivers, New Jersey. Her mother was a physical therapist and her father the Dean of English and Literature at Ocean County College. Perabo's unusual name comes from the actress Piper Laurie, whom she was named after. Perabo also has two younger brothers who want to become actors.
Piper was a model student and over achiever in high school. She was the president of the National Honor Society, a cheerleader, and appeared in her school's musicals. After finishing high school, Perabo went to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in drama. She went to New York City to pursue acting and got a her first part in "Single Spaced", a short film. Her role was as a giant squid. The next year, she was in the feature film "Whiteboys". While the movie didn't get her major attention, it did lead to her being cast in the major budget movie "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle" in 2000. In was her next film that really got Piper Perabo attention though.
She was cast in the lead role in the film "Coyote Ugly" about a small-town girl who moves to New York City to follow her dream to become a songwriter. The movie was a big hit and Perabo was nominated for several awards. Despite this success, Perabo's career was up and down for the next few years. She was in several hit movies like "Cheaper" by the Dozen but also many limited release films. In 2009, Perabo debuted on Broadway in the play "Reasons to be Pretty" by Neil LaBute. She currently lives in New York City.
