Jessica Ann Simpson is an American actress, singer and TV personality. She was born in Abilene on July 10, 1980. Jessica is the older of two sisters. Her younger sister Ashley Simpson is also a singer.
Jessica was brought up as a Baptist and sang at her church as a child. After her first record deal went south when the record label went bankrupt, Simpson got another chance when she sang in front of number the one man of Columbia Records, Tommy Mottola. She got signed instantly. To continue her singing career Simpson dropped out of high school during her senior year, but later managed to get her GED.
She released first album "Sweet Kisseswas" in 1999 and the first single of that album called "I Wanna Love You Forever", #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 Songs. After the release of her album Simpson started touring with Ricky Martin and "98 Degrees", a popular boy band at the time. She soon started dating one of the members of the band, Nick Lachey. Simpson has released a total of six studio albums, a remix album and a Christmas album.
Her acting career consists of parts in movies such as "The Dukes of Hazzard" (2005), where she played Daisy Duke, "Employee of the Month" (2006), "Blonde Ambition" (2007), "The Love Guru" (2008)and some parts in television shows. For her work she has won three Teen Choice Awards and a People's Choice Award.
From 2003 to 2005 she starred in her own reality TV show called "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica", with her then husband Nick Lachey. They married in 2002 and their divorce was finalized in June 2006, but they had previously separated in November 2005. After her divorce from Nick, she has been linked to singer John Meyer and was in a two year relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, up until July 9, 2009.
