Jennifer Lynn Lopez, often referred to as J.Lo, is an American actress, singer, dancer, TV producer as well as fashion designer. She was born on July 24, 1969 in Castle Hill, Bronx, New York to Puerto Rican parents, and has two siblings.
After she became a graduate of the all-girls Preston High School in the Bronx, and attended Baruch College for one semester, she decided to focus entirely on her dance career. When she wasn't working she was going to dance classes and performing in Manhattan night clubs.
She began her career as a dancer on the TV comedy show "In Living Color". Although she had worked in some TV shows and films beforehand, her big break in acting came when she was chosen to play the role of Selena, which was also the name of the film. The movie was a biopic of the singer Selena who was killed by an obsessed fan. She was praised for her performance and earned a Golden Globe Awardnomination for Best Actress- Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Since then she has starred in over 15 other motion pictures.
Her music career began in 1999 with the release of her firs studio album "On the 6" made it into top ten of the Billboard 200. All together she has released six studio albums and one compilation of remixes, having sold 48 million albums worldwide. She is planning her seventh studio album in 2010.
She was engaged to Ben Affleck, as well as married three times. Her last marriage to fellow Hispanic singer Marc Anthony is still going strong and they have twins who were born in February 2008. Lopez sold their baby pictures to People magazine for $6 million. She has her own line of clothing and perfumes, called J.Loas well as a restaurant in Pasadena, California called Madre's. She has been voted one of the most beautiful people many times.
