Heidi Klum is one of the world's top models who is known for her perfect figure and natural beauty. She was born June 1, 1973 as Heidi Samuel in a small city outside of Cologne, Germany.
In 1992 at the age of 18, she entered a national modeling contest. There were 25,000 contestants and Heidi Klum was named the winner out of all of them. As a result, she offered a modeling contract from Metropolitan Models New York worth $300,000. After finishing high school, Klum took the contract even though she had prior aspirations to become a fashion designer. Heidi Klum appeared on many magazine covers including "Elle", "Vogue" and "Marie Claire". Her work as an "angel" with Victoria's Secret really boosted her career to new heights. As a result, she was on the cover of the 1998 issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, a coveted modeling job. With her supermodel status well established, Klum decided to pursue other ventures while still modeling.
She appeared in several films including "The Life and Death" of Peter Sellers and had cameo appearances in a few films. She also made guest appearances on TV series like "Sex and the City". In 2004, Klum was on the reality show "Project Runway" as the host, judge and was also the executive producer. The show won a Peabody Award which is a first for any reality show and Klum was nominated for an Emmy for her role as host. In addition to acting and modeling, Klum has her own line of sandals, jewelry and perfume. She is also a painter and sculptress.
Klum was married to Pic Pipino, a stylist, from 1997 to 2002. In 2004, Klum gave birth to a daughter and she claims the father is Flavio Briatore, though he denies it. Heidi Klum married the musician Seal 2005 and they have three children together. Seal also officially adopted Heidi's first illegitimate daughter.
