Born and raised in the picturesque town of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the 5� tall performer began her professional career at the age of 10 when she landed a role in the critically acclaimed TV series Pit Pony (1997). It proved to be an auspicious debut, and Ellen Page was rewarded for her efforts with Best Performance nominations from the Gemini (the Canadian version of the Emmys) and Young Artist Awards.
Ellen Page continued her success in 2002 with roles in the hit comedy series Trailer Park Boys and the film Marion Bridge, for which she received Outstanding Performance honors from the ACTRA Maritimes Awards in Canada. Additional accolades followed in 2004 and 2005 when Ellen Page received back-to-back Gemini Awards for her outstanding work in the series Mrs. Ashboro�s Cat (2003) and ReGenesis (2004).
As one of Canada�s most promising young actresses, Ellen Page hit the big time in 2005 when she starred in Hard Candy, a ripped-from-the-headlines morality tale about pedophilia. Although the film may have underperformed at the box office, Ellen Page was right on the money in 2006 with X-Men: The Last Stand. The third installment of the X-Men franchise enjoyed a $103 million opening weekend thanks in part to Ellen Page�s scene-stealing performance as Kitty Pryde.
In 2007, Ellen Page had the lead role in Juno, a comedy about a young girl dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. She won an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work in that movie. She also played in three other flicks: An American Crime, The Tracey Fragments and The Stone Angel.
Ellen Page has appeared in several other movies, and they include 2008's Smart People and Jack and Diane. In '08, she also made Entertainment Weekly's 30 Under 30 list, FHM's Sexiest Women in the World (she ranked No. 61) and Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People list. and 2009's Whip It and Peacock.
