Canadian actress Amy Sloan was born on May 12, 1978 in Gladstone, Manitoba. The daughter of actress Mary Sloan and former government minister Dave Sloan, she graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal, Quebec in 1999. After stints on stage, she made her screen debut in 2000, playing a bit role in Canadian sci-fi thriller Xchange. She went on to appear in several more films, both Canadian and American-Dorian, Jack & Ella, Lost Junction, Gothika, The Day After Tomorrow, The Aviator and The Heartbreak Kid, among others.
Sloan is also active in acting for television. After her television debut in 2001-a guest role on the French comic book adaptation Largo Winch-she has guest starred on several more television shows. She appeared in, among others, Stargate SG-1, NCIS, Cold Case, CSI, Crossing Jordan, Numb3rs and Without a Trace. She also had a recurring role in the television drama Gilmore Girls, in 2006. Her first regular television role came a year later, when she joined the cast of the short-lived drama Big Shots. She played the role of Wendy Mixworthy, the wife of medicine executive Karl Mixworthy (Joshua Molina) who unwittingly meets his mistress (Jessica Collins). The series ended after a season because of unfavorable response.
