Who doesn't remember the fast talking teenage/college girl from "Gilmore Girls"? This is how Alexis Bledel (portraying Rory Gilmore) came on TV screens.

The youngster is coming from Houston, Texas, born some 28 years ago on Sept 16, 1981. She acts and models at the same time. Her unique looks come from Mexican mother and Argentinean father with Danish origins. The fast-talker's first language was Spanish and she only learnt English when she started school.

She entered the world of acting very young, when she did productions locally before moving to the modeling and then acting. She scored a role 10 years ago, in 2000, as Rory Gilmore in Gilmore Girls. What followed after are appearances in both the first and second installment of "The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants" in 2005 and 2008 respectively, playing the same character.

At the same time of acting she also signed up with IMG modeling side and continued with her modeling career. Alexis Bledel has other roles in the movies like Tucker Everlasting in 2002, Bride and Prejudice in 2004, Sin City in 2005 and more recently in Post Grad in 2009 and The Letters in 2010, among others. For her stable acting work, she received nominations in 2002 Young Artist Award and 2004 Teen Choice Award, both for Gilmore Girls. She also won awards in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006 for the character of Rory Gilmore for the same show, ranging from Young Artist Award Best Performance, Family Television Award and Teen Choice Award for IT Girl and TV Actress in Comedy.

She keeps her personal life separate from work and hasn't been involved in any scandals characteristically kept for actresses. Alexis Bledel also believes that books should be donated to those less fortunate, so she teamed up with an organization called First Book. She loves playing soccer and piano in her spare time and the love of travelling took her to Europe.
